Richaire Stud Partition Systems

Richaire Stud Partitions utilise the industry standard designs for metal stud partitions. They are available in many varieties. These include Solid, various Glazed types, Moisture resistant, Fire resistant and Acoustic rated options and Jumbo versions for very tall applications.

These partition systems are lightweight, non-loadbearing and quickly site assembled. They are suitable for all types of commercial, recreational, institutional, educational and industrial buildings and can also be used in residential developments such as flats and apartments. The Department of Health also approves this type of partition for use in Hospitals.

The system consists of lightweight metal sections, in the form of vertical C studs, that run between horizontal floor and ceiling channels to form a framework. Gypsum Plasterboards are screw-fixed to framework. Where a building design requires it a deflection head may be built into the partition. This type of partitioning is extremely versatile and by using various combinations of Plasterboard type, number and thickness, Metal Stud width, and Glass Wool infill many different duties can be met.

The standard range of Richaire Stud Partition is supplied with up to 120 minutes fire resistance and sound insulation of up to 50 RwdB. However, special high performance Stud Partitions can also be supplied that offer up to 240 minutes fire resistance and 76 RwdB sound Insulation.

It should be noted that Plasterboard is designated a ‘material of limited combustibility’ within the national Building Regulations and plasterboard surfaces achieve a Class 0 rating when tested to BS476 Part 6 1989. Therefore, a solid Plasterboard Stud Partition with no openings in it is naturally fire resistant. All openings in a Plasterboard Stud Partition negate its fire or acoustic integrity unless the item fitted into that opening also meets the required level of protection. For example, a door in a fire rated partition would have to meet the same criteria as the partition.

Plasterboards are supplied in widths of 1200mm and in lengths of 2400, 2700 and 3000mm The joints between individual Plasterboards may be filled with an aluminium trim or tape jointed to create a smooth continuous serface.

The exterior of Richaire Stud Partitions may be painted in the clients choice of colour and finish, but is more normally covered with a wall vinyl, again of the clients choice.
